DIY Gold Spray Painted Mug

I have been wanting to do this project for a while. I love how versatile it is: you can give it as a gift, use it for decoration, and of course as a mug to hold your drinks in.

I bought the mug from the dollar store and the can of spray paint from a nearby hardware store for just a few bucks.

What you'll need:

  • mug
  • masking tape or painters tape
  • matte-finish gold spray paint
  • clear sealer for ceramic

The project took me no more than 10 minutes only because I was struggling putting the masking tape on, but once you get past that part it's smooth sailing from there. Now all you have to do is spray paint it, wait about 5 minutes to spray the clear sealer, and give it about 3 minutes before peeling off the masking tape. Ta-dah! Now enjoy your new mug!

**TIPS:

-When putting the masking tape on try NOT to get any ripples because the paint will creep underneath.
-If that does happen, use rubbing alcohol to help clean up the lines.
-Don't let the tape sit for too long because the paint can peel up with the tape.
-If you don't have a clear sealer you can also bake the mug. Bake the mug in the oven for 30 minutes at 350°F. Remember to place the mug in the oven before it heats up and leave it in until the oven cools completely so there won't be any cracks.

I hope you enjoyed this! Always, Thavy.
