Black Matte Nail Polish

Black is my favorite color. I love how it goes with everything; it’s chic and classy but edgy and mysterious all at the same time. Black is even my go-to color choice when it comes to nail polish. I have been seeing photos on Pinterest and Instagram of matte nail polish and specifically matte black nail polish and it was like love at first sight! So I went to Sally’s and bought me a bottle of OPI Matte Top Coat and rushed home to paint my nails!

Supplies:
Base Coat
OPI Black Onyx Nail Polish (any black nail polish will work)
OPI Matte Top Coat
Nail Polish Remover (optional)

First, apply a single layer of base coat on your nails. Base coat acts as a foundation for your nails and will give your polish an even surface to adhere to. It will also help replenish your nails and prevent breakage and staining of the nails. Therefore, make sure you don’t skip or overlook this step!

Next apply two layers of black polish. Let your black polish dry completely before moving onto the topcoat.

Apply a single layer of matte topcoat. It will look glossy but will dry into a matte within a few seconds. The topcoat will take a little longer to dry. Topcoat works as a protective barrier to prevent the polish from fading and chipping.

Lastly, clean around your nails with nail polish remover to remove any excess nail polish on the skin. Now you’re done!

So what do you think about the look? What other colors do you think would look good with a matte topcoat?

Always, Thavy
